~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading and I love sharing my projects and current reads here. I would love for you to join me every Wednesday to share a single photo of what you are knitting (or crocheting) and reading too! Share your photo on your blog, on Instagram (#yarnalong), or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us!~

First–I finished Beatrix’s sweater!! I will try to get some photos of it today. She’s really pleased with it!
Completing a big project makes me want to cast on something new, but I have several projects already on the needles. I need to finish this pink jumper for Mabel if she’s going to get any use out of it. I started it last spring with cold January and February days in mind. I set it aside to wait till closer to the time Mabel would be wearing it, wanting to get the fit right. The yarn is some I dyed with madder root right after finding out we were having another little girl.
Beyond my Advent journal, I haven’t been reading much, though I need to start thinking more about getting strong and trying to put my self back together in a sense. So, I picked up Katy Bowman’s book on Diastasis Recti. She actually makes it entertaining to read about what might otherwise be a boring topic (though an important one for some of us!)

Thank you for posting this book!! I need to work on my diastasis recti. The time has come when it can no longer be ignored and I have not found the information I need to work on healing my body. I will be ordering this book as the start of giving myself some much needed attention. Thanks again!

Julie Wiebe has lots of good information and videos about diastasis recti on her site juliewiebept.com
I did rehab for this after my 5th and it made a huge difference. Gap is all closed up, baby pooch is gone and best of all, low back pain resolved.

Oh I remember drooling over that yarn for Mabel when you first dyed it. It’s really beautiful and looks so cozy. Your new-house posts are encouraging me since we are waiting on the appraisal for our new “dream big” house to move forward with the purchase.

Check out Fit2b. They are a great exercise program & focus on diastasis recti. I started doing it when we found out we were expecting our 5th baby but now have been diagnosed with placenta previa & told no excercise other than walking. My plan is to go through their workouts & blog posts to see if I can find anything I can do bc I’m only at 20 weeks. It is a great resource!! Love your blog & photos – thank you for giving us a glimpse into your beautiful home & family!

funny I was just snooping at the dream big post trying to figure out that book on your lovely table. Thanks for the close up and the link 🙂 I am always trying to improve my body and then my body betrays me is some fashion. I was doing simple yoga for 15 minutes a day and then back issues flared and so I am now only walking and that isn’t every day since the weather is weird. I ordered three cookbooks from Santa and I hope one of them inspires me. One was a salad cookbook (crazy!) and that might jazz up those boring dull salads….fingers crossed!
