~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading and I love sharing my projects and current reads here. I would love for you to join me every Wednesday to share a single photo of what you are knitting (or crocheting) and reading too! Share your photo on your blog, on Instagram (#yarnalong), or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us!~
I’m working on the second mosaic band on my Emiliana shawl. This is seriously such a fun knit! I am knitting it in sport weight wool at a bigger gauge than the pattern calls for (? not sure if that’s how to describe it-less stitches per inch) so it is going pretty quickly for me.
I am reading a book that I have been anticipating for a while now, Hallie Lord’s On the Other Side of Fear. I met Hallie last year at the Edel Gathering, and knew I liked her. Now, reading her book, I realize we are two peas in a pod. I struggle with worry and fear and her words are just what I needed to read right now. I pre-ordered a copy weeks ago, and then Hallie surprised me by sending me a copy too. So, I have an extra! I’d love to send it to one of you. Just mention it in the comments if you’d like to read it, and I’ll randomly select a winner before next week’s Yarn Along. (U.S. only please!)
The winner is Jenny!

I have an ongoing struggle with anxiety and allowing fear to dictate more than it should in my life. I have made a lot of strives and changes as I learn to more completely trust God, but it is a long journey. I would be very interested in the book!

I recently broke my arm and cannot knit for a while, which is my grief therapy, and anxiety reducer! I would love to have her book to read while I wait for my arm to heal.

Anxiety! Oh, what a struggle I sometimes have with it. It is always comforting when someone else admits that they, too, struggle with it!

I’ve always struggled with worry, but lately anxiety overwhelms me pretty easily. I have to work so hard to keep it from taking over. I’ve been searching for peace and would love to read this book.

who does not struggle with anxiety and fear, I would venture a guess that some are better hiding it than others. Here is where I believe we all need to be honest. Some of us who hide it best, struggle the most. What has brought me a great challenge is watching my children, my 2 sons and my daughter struggle. It has given me an opportunity to really open up and share. It is always a great surprise to hear them say, “but Mom, you are never afraid” and a real opportunity to bond when I confess my hidden anxiety. Would love to read another’s perspective.
