Yarn Along

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading and I love sharing my projects and current reads here. I would love for you to join me every Wednesday to share a single photo of what you are knitting (or crocheting) and reading too! Share your photo on your blog, on Instagram (#yarnalong), or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~

YarnAlong-2006

It’s been another light knitting week, just a few rows here and there on my Settler Shawl.  I am still loving the pink!

We listened to an audiobook of The Moffats a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it.  We were quick to request the next book in the series, The Middle Moffat, from the library.  And despite my habit of starting chapter books aloud with my kids and then quitting, this is the second in a row that I feel committed to finishing.  I really have to enjoy the book myself to stick with it.  (Owls in the Family was our last one.  We loved it!)

Hi Ginny. My children are now all grown but I loved reading aloud to them. I vaguely remember the Moffat series. I have a 3 year old grandson to read to now and a granddaughter on the way! Love the color of your shawl.

I started reading Owls In the Family with my 9 year old and although it took a couple chapters, he is now fully engaged! I picked up The Moffats for our next read. I am terrible at reading aloud but absolutely love the process even if I am the world’s most boring read aloud mom in the world!

Hello Ginny, I would like to join in with your Yarn Along, if I may. My Pal PomPom sent me!! I love your patterns too. I’m encouraging my eldest Grandaughter to read chapter books at the moment and she’s loving them.

I love that pink; am I right in recalling that pink isn’t your favorite? But this pink is lovely and has so many pretty shades!
I love Eleanor Estes and haven’t read anything by her yet to my kids but I’m sure we will since there are several on our shelf!

Love looking through all the project and books again. I didn’t seem to be able to keep up on my blog reading over the summer.
I recently read Owls in the Family to my daughter (age 8) and she loved it.

We love The Moffatts 🙂 It’s getting harder to find books that appeal to my princess-obsessed girls AND my boy, but the Moffatt books were all big hits when we read them!

Eleanor Estes was a classic writer! I love family romps that are told with respect for the individual. She’s good at that! Have you read The Great Brain? It’s a keeper and there are quite a few books if you like the first one. I saw that little video of you knitting on Instagram. You knit like me, so I was encouraged. Thank you for Yarn Along!

You and your kids would also probably really like “Pinky Pye” by the same author.

Erin was just telling me she needs a new read aloud for Emerson so I am thrilled to see your book today. I haven’t heard to the Moffat’s, and after taking a peek at Amazon I see there are quite a few and they look like a fun read.

I can’t wait until my kids are a little bigger and can enjoy chapter books. There are a few I love so much I can practically recite them.
