Little Spruce Organics {giveaway!}

Today’s giveaway is from Little Spruce Organics, one of my favorite places to shop for my little ones!

In shop owner Bethany’s words, “Little Spruce Organics is a small, family-run business that offers a unique selection of organic baby apparel, organic cloth diapering products, breastfeeding apparel, and natural wooden and organic cotton toys. We specialize in woolens for babies and toddlers and are committed to carrying only apparel and cloth diapering products that are made from organic and natural fibers. The products I choose to carry in my store are all a result of my experience as a mother and my strong desire not only to select the most nurturing, natural products for my own children, but to spark the same passion in other mothers who are committed to providing their children with a childhood that is as close to nature as possible.”

Silk is an ideal natural fiber for keeping you comfortable without overheating, making it perfect for spring and summer. Lightweight, delicate, and breathable, you can wear an organic silk top in the heat of the summer and feel cool and comfortable. Silk is gentle and soft, making it ideal for those with sensitive skin and soothing for those with allergies.

Silk insulates, binds and retains heat very well, breathes naturally, and is cool in hot weather and warm in cold weather. Because the silk fiber is smooth and light, silk feels warmer than wool during cold weather but it has the ability to cool you down when your skin is hot. Like wool, silk can neutralize body odor and can absorb a great deal of moisture without feeling wet.

Job'ssilkonesie-8491(This little raw silk onesie was one of my favorite things to dress Job in during his first few months.)

We offer natural bourette (raw) silk for babies, which is known for its healing properties and has an earthy texture, and we also have a selection of certified organic filament silk, which is shimmery and smooth, for babies, children, and adults. Any of these garments make great long underwear layers for hiking, camping, and other outdoor activities.

Silk is easy to care for- like wool, it does not require frequent laundering and can simply be aired out between uses. When washing is necessary, silk can be hand washed, and some silk garments can be machine washed up to 86 degrees F and laid flat to dry. It dries very quickly.

The silk we carry is made by Sichuan Alkena, which is based on a biodynamic silk farm located in the Sichuan province in southwest China. All processes in Sichuan Alkena’s organic silk production, including knitting, weaving, dyeing, printing, and sewing are inspected annually by the IMO and meet the GOTS organic production standards. All dyes used in Alkena’s organic silk is free of heavy metals, toxins, and AOX.

littlespruce2We’re also very excited to offer Pickapooh’s summer collection of organic cotton hats! Pickapooh makes really cute hats that are comfortable and fit well, and many have natural UV protection which varies depending on the color and weight of the fabric. We now offer Pickapooh hats in both children’s and adult’s sizes.
