~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~
In addition to finishing the purple shawl, I’ve been knitting little swatches all week, inspired by a really lovely single skein of yarn from my stash (starbright in the tea rose colorway.) I have a picture in my mind that I’m hoping I can bring to life.
When I took this photo, I wasn’t thinking of Yarn Along. I had just finished reading this precious book to my girls and noticed that it matched my knitting. We are kind of maxed out on space in our little house, and I rarely buy picture books these days, instead doing my best to take advantage of the library. But this book, The Goat Lady, about an elderly woman who keeps a flock of goats and is embraced by her community despite initial misgivings, is a real keeper. The paintings that illustrate the story are beautiful. It’s just an all around wonderful book.

Oh….how FUN 🙂 🙂 🙂 I was on serious yarn overload looking at all the linkies here 🙂 🙂 I won’t be able to participate this week….BUT I’ll make sure and have something ready for next week. Is this a link-up that happens every Wednesday?
Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather 🙂 🙂
p.s. I found your blog via a lovely mention on Ann Voskamp’s website “A Holy Experience” 🙂 🙂 🙂

Ginny,
That yarn is so pretty and it will be fun to see what you create with it. Also, I have a deep adoration for goats. We used to raise them here. I wrote down that book so I can check for it at the library.
Love,
Taryn

Your purple shawl is so delicate and pretty. Love the shade of purple too. I just received a package from WEBS today with my “grapey” Malabrigo and am even more inspired now that I’ve seen your shawl!

Cant wait to see what you do with your beautiful starbright yarn. It really is a lovely color.
And The Goat Lady sounds so sweet. What a special read…I may have to get it for my children. I’ve have a tender place in my heart for the elderly…it goes way back from taking walks with my grandfather to visit all his elderly friends. So this book is right up my alley.

That is such a pretty name for your yarn. I have always thought that naming yarn colors would be one of the best jobs ever.
