~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~
To give my hand a break from holding the heavy copy of Angle of Repose I have out from the library, I read Pope Awesome and Other Stories this week. It wasn’t just my tired hand that convinced me that I needed something different to read for a couple of days. Once my copy of Pope Awesome arrived, I couldn’t help but pick it up and start reading it. It’s written by a mom of six whose story I can really relate to. I found myself needing that as I sat nursing my newborn in a slightly sleep deprived state while all my other children seemed to be bouncing off the walls last week. I am about ten pages away from finishing Angle of Repose now, and have requested another book by Wallace Stegner called Crossing to Safety from the library because I think I really love this author.
I am hardly knitting. Jonny’s hat is finished, and I’ve started another for Silas. I’ve been knitting the brim on Silas’ hat for days now. I can knit while I nurse, but I’m still too busy staring at Job to want to.

I haven’t visited here in ages, and I love that you now have the linky thingy for the yarn alongs … awesome, and I’ll have to remember to link up next week! Moments spent gazing at your newborn are all to be savoured … I loved those early days of wonder 🙂 Wendy x

This is my second week, here, and I am LOVING this Yarn Along! I have to head outside right now to feed critters before total darkness falls, but I look forward to spending some time this evening, with a huge cup of coffee, looking over everyone’s great projects!

Thank you for hosting! I need to get my hands on that book . . . (I can’t wait until I get to stare at my little one, just a couple of months now!)

that book sounds like something i could get in to. it is hard to find books about large families. and having a large family myself… well i do enjoy them when they come along.

Oh! I have had my eye on the Pope book! So much to read and so little time!
Donna says
And that’s exactly what you should be doing – adoring that sweet little babies, because we all know they grow up way too fast. Enjoy it all. The knitting will wait!
Tricia- Farmish Momma says
Stare away Ginny! You and I both know how quick those little boobie snatchers will grow up so just stare all you can now 🙂 Job is scrumptious

I wish I could knit and nurse. This is my third baby, he is 8 days old, and even as an experienced nurser I can’t do it hands free enough to knit. And I am too sleep deprived to read much besides blogs and the internet on my iPhone.
Erin @ Mama in Progress says
I don’t blame you for little knitting- you have to enjoy that baby!
Sharron says
I don’t blame you! I’m rather hold a baby any day.
Elizabeth says
So glad for this new baby in your life! newborn age is fleeting; knitting will still be there! Glad there was a good book for you at this stage/season!
Sarah says
When my third was born 6 months ago, I found this time I was experienced enough with nursing that I could nurse and knit at the same time but usually opted to read instead, especially after the first few weeks of astonishment at having a new baby were over. 🙂 Now it takes all my attention to keep her focused on nursing instead of trying to see what is going on in the house…. even if we go hide away in a quiet room! Enjoy that baby… this stage is so short, as you well know.
Beautiful color for Silas’ hat.
Tracey says
Yes, I would be baby starring too, enjoy every minute of it.
