Busy weekend, and I was thinking I’d just post photos today (tired brain,) but some of them need a little explanation.
Let’s see…
I used to make paper dolls for Larkspur. Now she makes them herself.
I’ve redone Silas’s brown sweater and I think it fits him much better now, but oops–there seems to be an issue with buttonhole placement now. I’ve also started another knitting project. I am finding that this pregnancy requires me to be still quite a bit. I don’t like being still. The knitting helps.
Truffles aren’t very photogenic, but they are yummy. The kids are teasing me and saying that I have a “problem.” I’ve only made two batches, and it’s not like I eat them all myself.
Baby is due in less than four months. I like to think in months, because that sounds longer than weeks. Jonny and I are making lists of what needs to happen before he arrives. Jonny requested that I give him no more than three things for his list at a time so that he can stay focused. Over the weekend, he started redoing the interior of one of our two closets. The girls will soon have a new place for their clothes. While they don’t know it yet, they will also be taking charge of their own laundry, which will be sort of great. They might learn to reconsider some of their midday outfit changes (Beatrix.)
Right now, what I want most is to get out of here for a day and go to Big Meadow. Looking back at the photos from the last time we went, I started to cry last night. (Currently I’m an emotional wreck: pregnancy does that to me.) I’m trying to figure out how to make a day trip happen, but our van is making a scary noise. I’m really hoping we can get that straightened out this morning. Clearly, if looking at pictures of the meadow is making me cry, I need to go there as soon as possible. We haven’t been in almost nine months, and I want to see the spotted fawns, before it’s too late.

My own “Beatrix” – very similar if the pics are any indication – is currently 22. We were together approximately 4 hours yesterday ay Grandma’s to celebrate her Daddy’s birthday. I saw her in 3 different outfits. LOL!

Well now, I think I just love everything about this post. Well, except for the crying. Darn hormones. I hope they settle themselves down for the next few months. But what a lovely family you do have ~ always so busy (exhausting, I’m sure) but bright and creative and content. That comes across in your photos. Have a good week and rest every little bit, if and when you can!

Ginny,
I hope you can go soon!
When I was pregnant with Bracken, I had intense food cravings and also intense other cravings (like dipping my feet in the river by our house.)
Love,
Taryn

So sweet that Silas slowed down to take time to smell the flowers!

the meadow will look so different at this time of the year…hope things work for you to spend some time there. nature is so soothing for the soul….and those raging pregnant hormones!

I hope you guys make it up to Big Meadow!
How dare your kids tease you about eating truffles-you’re pregnant!! That’s an excuse, right? 😉
Also, that picture of Silas smelling the flowers?? Heartbreaking. Soooo cute.
Tracey says
The time is really flying by so quickly, four months will be up before you know it.
I am not a huge chocolate lover, or sweets for that matter, but your tuffles look so good I may just have to try a batch.
Linda says
Wishing you peace and serenity as that is what your photos bless me with.

oh i do hope you get to the meadow soon. less than 4 months, time does fly.
love all of your girlies paper dolls, makes me want to make some too. <3

I hope you get to go to the meadow! Seems like only a couple of months ago that you were there for me 😉 I have some ideas of where I’d like to visit but not when it’s 90 degrees out. I might start a list. Love those buttons immensely with the sweater 🙂
If you are a lazy knitting kind of gal-you could use snaps and put the buttons where they should be as decorative until you re-jigger the button placement thing. (a friendly cheat).
Amanda @ Life and Times says
Never underestimate the power of the spotted fawn! We had three frolicking all weekend in the yard. Pure delight!
Lisa says
I hope you get your trip to the meadow to see your spotted fawns! Yay for a closet makeover! It’s such a huge help having the kids do their own laundry, that is, when they actually do it! 😉
Missy says
I just love the photo of Silas sniffing the flowers. What a quiet, delightful moment.
Brenda from Dwyer's Farmhouse says
Love those paper dolls!….and the truffles too. AND the redo of the inside of a closet….we have two upstairs closets that are a terrible mess. The old plaster came crashing down………..ummm….a few years ago….and made a big mess. I cleaned it up….but we still have never got around to fixing the problem. Instead the other two upstairs closets have become ‘shared’ closets.
Ginny says
This closet was hodge podged together, so Jonny is drywalling (is that a word?) the whole interior to clean it up and even it out and then we will add a rod and simple shelves. I hope you get yours fixed too!
Tina says
4 months! I almost cannot wait. Soon enough you will have two very little boys running behind you 🙂
Ginny says
I’m afraid they are going to be running ahead of me!! 🙂
Wanda says
If I lived close enough I would come get you! 🙂
Helena says
I’m inspired–if your almost five-year-old can start learning to do laundry, so can mine. And maybe mine will ease up on the mid-day outfit changes “because I was done with those clothes” too. 🙂
Elizabeth says
Hang in there… looked at the linked posts of your favourite place; wow; I can see why! Hoping the van is not a in a huge problem!!!
Erin @ Wild Whispers says
Hugs to you, Ginny. I love having babies, but the pregnancy part doesn’t agree with me at all. Sending prayers that the van fix is a simple one and you get out to the meadow soon!
Donna says
I MISS YOU SO MUCH… Does sitting still include sitting still in a restaurant? I would love t take you out for Indian food or whatever you wish….
Ginny says
Yes, that would be really nice. It’s just so hard to get away in the evenings! But now that baseball season is over, maybe we can!
Donna says
does not have to be dinner — could be lunch, brunch, afternoon snack….
Teresa C says
Wow, how will you manage to have your girls taking care of their own laundry? Specially Bea. I’d love some tips ob that. Thank you!
Good luck on your projects.
Ginny says
If Larkspur doesn’t get the hang of how to run the washing machine/dryer, either I or one of the older boys will just help with that part. I have been teaching the girls how to fold laundry for awhile now (best taught by just having them fold with me when I am doing laundry) and they can both put it away on their own. Beatrix is not as good at it as Larkspur, so more of the work will fall to Lark at first, but Bea will be five this fall, so she’s growing up!
Teresa C says
Thank you for sharing! I’m not sure when and how to start my boy on chores. For the time being I just model (and let him “help” when he wants).
Andee says
I hope your van is a quick fix. My ride is at the garage right now being fixed. Hopefully it is a minor engine thing going on…fingers crossed there is an easy and cheap fix. Oh I loved your pictures from the trip to Big Meadow I hope your trip works out. I love the laundry idea. My boys are killing me with outfit changes!!!
Michelle says
Ginny, you are a brilliant photographer. Brilliant. I wanted to say something to make you laugh out loud this morning but I am not that funny. I hope you get to your meadow soon.
Rach says
Spotted fawns…. Swoon! I am having pregnancy pelvic pain flashbacks and remembering that special feeling of growing a human! Xx
