All By Myself

I had an entire long afternoon to myself this week.  I spent most of it on the phone with a long lost friend, who found me through this blog of all things!  Of the three close girlfriends I had during my teen years, she is the only one still living.  To talk to her after sixteen years, was amazing.  She and I have quite a history and the fact that our stories ended up with happy endings is nothing short of a miracle.  I’ve been happy all week, so very happy.

When Jonny and the kids arrived home on this evening, they found me in the backyard, taking pictures of our dogwoods, a smile on my face.  Last year they didn’t bloom, a late frost I think.  This year they’re beautiful.

  1. Mine didn’t bloom this year, a few half blooms. I missed them. Yours are so beautiful. Thank you for sharing. I should pick up the phone and call my high school bestie. I haven’t talked with her in years.

  2. I love the story of reconnection with friends. How wonderful to share your life stories with one another and see redemption. And your photos, as always, are lovely.

  3. lovely pictures – I can imagine that it was beautiful to just be in your garden all by yourself.
And great that you could connect to an old friend – I only have contact to one of my teenfriends. One unfortunately died, and the other all somehow disappeared…

  11. Recently, I asked a gardener about dogwoods, so beautiful, and he told me something was killing them off. I hope not. Love your blog. Things often do work out for us. It’s nice to connect with people.

Dogwoods make me so nostalgic for Virginia. Colorado is home now, but VA will always be a home too.

  17. Yes gorgeous shots of those blooms. I love this time of year in the Pacific Northwest especially for the blooming dogwoods that “pop” out of the woods where you least expect them. They say something of hope, don’t you think?

    Blessings.

  18. Do you know the legend of the dogwood? I’ll never look at one the same again.
