grubby

Jonny and I can’t stop looking at these pictures and laughing.

I don’t need to explain why the girls had a pot full of grubs, right?

Well, I guess I should add that Silas did not actually eat a grub.  He was pretending though, and it was hilarious.

Fabulous photos of a jolly time. My big kids gathered round for a good laugh as I made up captions for all the shots. Love the expressions on the faces!

  14. Kimberly says:

I’m assuming they’re gathering them for the chickens? My kids love gathering the black soldier fly grubs that form on the compost bin and feeding them to the chickens…lots of entertainment :)

This series of photos is making my heart sing. It reminds me so very much of myself, my little sister and our baby brother when we were roughly the same ages as your Larkspur, Bea & Silas. We wished for older brothers, but our mother explained she couldn’t “make us any”. We had similar adventures in pretend & real eating of dirt stews. Never any grubs though. We missed out!

  16. lol i was wondering what was in there… actual grubs. hilarious. LOL

  17. Nadja says:

Oh my! Those are just such great shots! I love all that interaction, and Silas seems to developing a big personality, just like those of Lark and Bea.

I also really love Bea’s haircut. I am sick of Gemma’s hair being sticky all the time, and have been looking at a few versions of a bob for her. Bea’s looks sweet on her.

Your babies look so much like you :)

Larkspur is looking so old in these pictures! When did that happen?

I love that he knows to pretend with his big sisters. Don’t you just love sibling love?

    Best,
    Kim

What great pictures! They look like they’re having a great time together. You have beautiful kiddos and they look like they have great senses of humor :)

  22. Barbara says:

Oh grubs are so yucky. My husband and youngest feed them to the fish in the creek. Do your chickens eat them?

I just finished The Glass Castle. Oh. My. You realize that some day Silas is going to write a book with a chapter on how he and his sisters had nothing to eat so they dug up grubs? They have visual evidence you know.

    Just kidding. ;-)

  23. Taryn Oakley says:

    That is great!!

  24. Joy says:

What a great series of shots! I especially love the one where Larkspur is holding her finger up to Silas, the one where they are all peeking into the pot, and the one where it looks like Larkspur is sneaking him a bite while Beatrix laughs hysterically. Too funny!

  25. Citysister says:

    Mud pies and grub noodles…yum!

  26. Cary says:

That is so funny!!! Larkspur is really looking like your husband in these pictures!

  27. Tracey says:
