Today’s giveaway is from Annie of Alphabet Glue! If you are a regular reader of my blog, you know that I am a huge fan of Alphabet Glue myself. My entire family loves it for both the activities and the booklists. Alphabet Glue is hands down one of my favorite resources. I have been eagerly awaiting the release of Volume nine, and am excited to say it is here (and it may be my favorite issue yet!) That’s not the only exciting news that Annie has to share. She has launched a new website for Alphabet Glue as well. I asked her to tell us a bit about the new website, and what we can expect to find in volume nine.
From Annie:
For the last year and a half, Alphabet Glue has lived in a little corner of my personal blog, Bird and Little Bird. It has been great to see the community of families using the magazine grow and I’ve loved having my blog folded into the mix. But the magazine has clearly needed a space all its own for awhile now, and after months of casually tinkering with a website for it, I decided to make the leap. The new website offers me more space to share sample projects, photos that families and teachers have sent me of Alphabet Glue in action in their homes and schools, and bright, colorful pages that show what you can find inside each issue. It was quite a bit of work, but now that at least the basics of the website are done, I’m very happy that I’ve given my beloved project a bit of room to stretch.
At just over forty pages long, the newest issue of Alphabet Glue has lots of imaginative and bookish fun on offer, there is a little something for everyone inside. Fold paper periscopes for amateur espionage, display pictures and words in three-dimensions, craft a fleet of tiny acorn boats (and learn a little science in the process). Make books that hold the potential to become miniature libraries all their own, assemble simple plant presses and take them into the field. Explore the world of robots, dive into the deepest sea, turn humble pieces of paper into machines that tell stories. Plus, Volume Nine offers four brand new themed booklists filled with leveled recommendations for great reads aimed at kids of all ages (and their parents too!)
For the giveaway:
Annie is offering two readers a copy of Volume Nine of Alphabet Glue accompanied by an Alphabet Glue craft kit that contains the necessary materials for doing each of the projects inside the latest issue! The kit includes cardstock for printing templates, small mirrors for making persicopes, velcro and bookboard for making plant presses, decorative papers for bookmaking, and modeling clay and acorn tops for making acorn lid sailboats.
