I want you to hear the bees. This was filmed (if you can call it that–I stood there with my camera that isn’t really the best for making movies) in a field beyond the woods in our backyard. No sound from civilization typically reaches this area. That rushing sound, that is the sound of hundreds of honeybees along with some native bees as well, all happily working the Japanese knotweed that is blooming now. It feels pretty wild to stand in the middle of it all.

what's this? we'll look it up.

Yarn Along

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs.  I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~
Yarn Along

Knitting on Keats’ Milo picked up this week.  I also blew the surprise when I tried to casually measure the distance between his shoulder and armpit.  He was on to me immediately.  That’s okay.  It’s miles of stockinette now, and if Keats knows about it, he can help me knit it.

Somehow I ended up picking up what I believe are Stephanie Pearl-Mcphee’s first and latest books this week.  All Wound Up has actual chapters, so I read a bit at bedtime.  At Knit’s End has little snippets, so I pick that up when I have a minute here or there.  I was a little slow to move into the reading about knitting genre, but when I finish these, I think I will have read all of Stephanie’s books.  It’s nice to be reading a couple of light funny books that focus on knitting especially because September is going to be far too busy and I am stressing just thinking about it.  I am ready for fall temperatures, but as for all the rest, I’m not quite there yet.
