~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~
My little baby cardigan is a bit messy right now. I am very close to finishing (and actually, will most likely be finished with it by the time this post goes up in the morning!) I started worrying about running out of yarn, so I have my second sleeve going from the inside of what’s left of my yarn, and the edge is going from the outside of the ball. I think everything is going to work out. What a sweet little knit this is! I also finished the shawl that I’ve been working on for the past month or so and the good news is that the friend that I knit it for loves it, and she’s not allergic to wool!
I started reading Gaia’s Garden this week. I am very, very excited about this book and am eager to learn more ways to incorporate more ecologically sound gardening practices on our little homestead. Surely the answer to our ten year battle with wiregrass is somewhere in these pages….

I’m late with my yarn along post this week. Sorry!!
I look forward to checking in on Yarn Along every week. I love to see what everyone is knitting and what great yarns they are using!! So glad I found Yarn Along!
Lisa @ Happy in Dole Valley says
The thought of running short on yarn for a project is simply not a good one. Hope you have enough! Thanks so much for hosting. 🙂 Sharing a finished project — yes!!
Annie @ knitsofacto says
What a cute little cardigan, and such a gorgeous colour!
I’m late to the party here, and I’ve linked to a post that’s a couple of days old. But I too am reading about gardens and knitting 😀

First post here on the yarn along and cannot believe it. Now I am off to do that yarn ball thingy!
Yeah!

You pick the best colors. I was a Walmart today and picked a periwinkle blue which is my favorite, but was a skein short, so I picked a lavender . I like working with cotton because wool makes me so itchy, but the wool yarns are so beautiful.
Lisa says
Just in case you want to knit a shawl for another friend I would like to officially throw my hat in the ring and confirm that I am NOT allergic to wool. I would like to follow that up with the fact that I LOVE anything you knit because you have great taste in yarn. So don’t feel boxed in with just a shawl. I am open!!

Oh I know this sort of knitting, from the inside and the outside at once – funny yet messy. Hope to see the result soon!

If it does have any ideas for wire grass, Ginny, I hope you will let us know. I’ve researched over the years, but the only method that seemed to guarantee success had about 16 steps to it, including plowing and chemicals. So we just try to keep it out of the kitchen garden. We are surrounded by hayfields and they are full of it. And then there is the tree version of wire grass in the ailanthus trees. : (

We’ve been working with a master gardner friend who is helping us make consistent harvests with an ongoing crop rotation. It’s amazing what two raised beds can bring forth – and to think for two prior years we’ve had that mega day with 72 crowns of broccoli (ha!). That book looks great and I’ll have to see if our library has it. Love that shade of pink; looking forward to seeing it off the needles.

Love the colour! Looking forward to see it finished 🙂

I haven’t heard of that book! I will have to check it out. It’s what I was looking for earlier this spring, but couldn’t find. I think your sweater is darling… great work. Fingers crossed that you have enough yarn!

That is a beautiful color! I would love someone to teach me to knit. I just can’t seem to get the hang of it on my own. Permaculture is fantastic!

I am just loving the colour of the yarn for your baby sweater. So nice and cheerful for a little one.
Thanks for hosting again.
Carrie "Forrest" says
Great idea, to use the inside on the other sleeve. My project right now has me concerned about running out. I may put a ruffle around the edge in a green or blue it will match and give me a bit more length.

That yarn is beautiful – and I was just looking at that pattern yesterday. I am working with another of her patterns; aren’t they wonderful?
I am so glad for the book recommendation; we will be starting up our garden in our new yard in the spring—well, really in the fall, as we prepare the space for spring planting. Based on the description, I think that might be a very good resource for us… xo
Heather says
That red is very pretty. I am finding myself drawn to red these days.
Emily T. says
Oh how daring! I would be too scared of making a mess feeding two pieces of knitting from the same ball of yarn at the same time.
Donna says
The sweater is adorable. I really have to do some baby knitting.
Rain says
What a funny coincidence, I just started reading Gaia’s Garden last night (though I received it as a gift a year ago). Such a fascinating way of gardening. Can’t wait to understand it better. Love the color of your baby sweater.
Blessings!

Such a pretty color and it looks very soft!

The baby sweater is looking great!

Did you finish the Duggars second book? Your cardigan looks beautiful! It is really coming along. I love the color-so deep and vibrant. How did you manage to knit that cardigan so fast? My husband would say: Wiregrass is hard to kill. Reminds me alot of hostas, in that way. Round-up would work but not sure you would like to treat it chemically. Maybe digging it up and laying down some grass seed?
embracingitall says
It looks lovely. Oh that feeling of not being sure if there is enough yarn is almost an adrenalin rush! So many times I have literally had just a few centimetres left of yarn at the end of a project. Jacinta

It doesn’t look messy to me – it looks wonderful!
I haven’t seen Gaia’s Garden before – is it specific to gardening in the US or would it be of use to me in the UK?
Christina says
A clever way to tackle the problem! What a sweet colour. And glad to hear your friend loves her shawl and can wear it. 🙂

that yarn is such a gorgeous raspberry … I love baby knits as they go so fast …

I love that feeling of not being sure I have enough yarn, it’s kind of weird-then I imagine how I will fix it…..a contrasting color? shorter sleeves? Most of the time I have enough yarn. Love the color of the baby cardi!!
