Flower Press

At my request, Jonny made me a set of flower presses for Mother’s Day.   The girls and I love the process of pressing the flowers, but haven’t yet decided what to do with them once they’re dried.  Any ideas?

  1. Try googling for pressed flower sun catchers. I don’t remember where I saw the idea but you put the flowers between two pieces of glass and use a copper tape around the edges that plumbers use. They were beautiful and would make pretty gifts.

  2. I have a question about what those devices are that you pressed the flowers with? Did you make them yourself? Can you do a tutorial on them? They are fascinating.

  3. One summer i spent in Scotland when i was a child, my mom and i collected all the different wild flowers we could find. We looked up their names and pressed them and stuck them in a little notebook. You could make it into an educational activity for your kids, getting them to learn about the flowers and write names and facts next to each one. You need to make sure you have a book with a binding that can hold the all the flowers as it gets quite fat. Alternatively, maybe a poster?

  4. i had a friend who would put dried flowers in homemade paper.

  5. Bookmarks! I luv making bookmarks. I guess you could lay them on a pretty strip of paper or construction paper add other decorations or drawings or a quote (another fav.) then cover them with clear wide (packing) tape. U could punch a hole on the top and add a ribbon.

  6. You could make them into placemats for your family meal table. You need cork backing, then paint, attach the flowers, then you need a resin to make them durable. Would be sooo pretty!!!

I love to hear from you!
