~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~
I love both my knitting and my book this week. I am working on a shawl for a friend and the pattern is simple enough that I can work on it throughout the day. I won’t have enough yarn to make it as big as the pattern calls for, but there is a recipe for making either a smaller or larger shawl, so I can just downsize a bit. I love the color and wish this photo did a better job portraying it.
I first saw A Girl of the Limberlost at a gift shop in Shenandoah National Forest, and recently bought a copy of it. Have any of you read anything by Gene Stratton Porter? I love the way she combines fiction with nature in this book and will certainly be seeking out more of her work. The heroine of the story is a young lady named Elnora who pays her way through school by gathering and selling moths in the forest and swamp near her home. It’s a bit of a Cinderella story and who doesn’t love those? I have hardly been able to put the book down since I started reading it last week. It’s considered a classic, but is definitely an easy read.
