~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~
I am still working on Gabriel’s sweater, hoping to have it finished by the end of the week, so I will wait to show it to you until then! In the meantime, I cast on what will be a ruffled scarf, because that big sweater is awkward to work on when I am nursing Silas. And I guess that’s about all I have to say about knitting today! Well, I could add that I am thinking about taking the next few months to knit only what I really want to, not what is being requested of me. I don’t think that’s too selfish….
I am still working through books on organization. I finished the Organizing for people with ADD book (and someone asked if I actually have ADD–well, actually I was diagnosed ADHD in college….whatever–meaning, yes, but I don’t think about it much. I am too busy moving rapidly from one thing to the next.) Now I am reading Organized Simplicity. I haven’t read much yet, but this one’s supposed to be great, right? I am still happy that I finished Howard’s End, and I have a really distracting pile of books I want to pour through right now as well. I really am trying to stay on task. How about you?

Another scarf pattern to add to my collection. I missed the cut off linky time.
My MIL’s 99th birthday party got in the way of finishing my post.
So I’m adding it here, hope it’s okay.

I just got a post up about our crocheted Christmas gifts, but alas I am too late for the Linky Widget. Here’s the link: http://ponderedinmyheart.typepad.com/pondered_in_my_heart/2012/01/yarn-along-the-crocheted-christmas-gifts.html

Love that yarn colour!

Very pretty color! The Ruffled Scarf is on my list of future projects. I think knitting only what you want for a while is a fun idea. 🙂

Oh, I am so disorganized at the moment and , I suspect, a bit depressed(no real reasons, I know). I love your ruffled scarf color….

I love that book. It was a gamer changer for me. I also love that shade of purple. It’s divine.

I have never done this before. Thanks for letting me go along for the ride. Love the color too!

I love the color too. I have a crochet thread that color and I haven’t decided what to do with it yet.

I am so proud of myself today. I’ve been wanting to participate for such a long time! I put it on my calendar and here I am.
I read Tish’s book and I found the first chapters very helpful. My main problem was not to organize the house or the closet, it’s my mind, my projects, my daily to do’s I couldn’t get together.
Right now I am reading Getting Things Done by David Allen and I have a million of light bulbs lighting up at each chapter I read. I highly recommend it!

I am in LOVE with that yarn! Such a rich color…
I kept my knitting simple for the Yarn Along today, just a little Ichord to loop around an abalone button I picked up in California over Christmas but I forgot to mention I’m still reading O Juliet and enjoying it immensely. Whoops!

The color of this scarf is absolutely gorgeous!
Mia Foley says
Wow Ginny it looks like you’ve had a record number of links on your Yarn Along today, amazing how it just keeps growing, wonderful! Can’t wait to see that sweater on your beautiful boy and love the purple of your scarf. Happy stitching x

Love the pattern you are following for the scarf and the color you chose is so rich and beautiful! I think you should definitely take a couple of months and knit only what your heart desires! <3

We could sure use some organizing over at our place, my wardrobe is a mess, storage room is just horrible and the junk drawer that I tried so hard to get rid of is somehow full of junk again. I guess I can just say it: I now have TWO junk drawers. Argh! Hope you give us a review of “Organized simplicity”, I’ve also heard its good but wonder just how helpful it is.

I am knitting something for my self while knitting things for others…I’m always struggling against my to knit list. It’s a hard balance between have to knit and want to knit..want usually wins!

Not to add to your stack of books, but I wanted to mention an organizational tool I just stumbled across during my journey around the blogosphere… (I’m not affiliated with it in any way, I just thought it was cool.) It’s called “One Bite at a Time” by Tsh Oxenreider. It’s organized into small projects that can be completed in any order to help you simplify. It has an eco friendly, whole food, natural living vibe. Here is a link:

PS: I pulled out my crochet hook for the first time in a long time yesterday… I made a doll scarf!

I love the yarn alongs you host. I’m very eager to take a look at the book you mention on Simplicity and organization; I’m on a path to simplicity myself and have a challenge going on my blog to help with that. (http://twyste.com, for anyone interested). Thanks for hosting this, Ginny.

Oh, I could benefit from your reading list. Organization is not my strong suit! And I love your yarn choice. I have yet to try any Madelinetosh yarn but it calls to me everytime I see it. Beautiful! I can’t wait to see the finished product!

The knitting is lovely, as usual.
The post involving Kipper cracked me up. My kids are also quite into Kipper (I’ve had to work from home during the day lately and have at times succumbed to Kipper-as-babysitter temptation). They delight in acting out expanded plots that they come up with. My son is “Kippah” and my daughter is “Ah-nold.” I am everyone else, and as long as I keep up my (unconvincing but dedicated) accent then we get along fine.

First time commenter! Hello everybody!
I also love the yarn color you’ve chosen there… and your blog in general. Thanks for sharing with us!

I love the colour of that yarn – just beautiful!
I also *love* Organized Simplicity – I hesitated to buy it because I felt like it was going to be mostly common sense or things I could find online – which it is, really, but having it all in one place for easy reference is invaluable.
(I also loved the Organizing for People with ADHD book; I have a number of books aimed at women with ADHD that I’d be happy to pass on if you’re interested. Drop me a line…) xo

lovely yarn…love the color! I too have a baby that’s making it hard to knit now……she used to just nurse and I could knit away but now she’s grabbing needles and yarn! A smaller project is def. easier to manage!! Happy knitting!

I love this book Ginny, I’ve totally implemented many of her suggestions and its been great. I’m about to start the 10 day purge… although I think it’ll be a more like a 20 day thing for me, since many of my days are full…but I’m being intentional about setting aside time to clean out & organize, which I think is important. I’m still working away on my cowl, the picture hasn’t changed much since the last time. That yarn color is just beautiful, I think its perfect for a ruffly sweater.
Emma says
Dear Ginny, thanks to you I have read all those books (or parts of them, at least), and inch by inch things are looking up. Parenting Simplicity’s tip on throwing away almost all the toys helped me the most. Love your scarf pattern, I can see my boys asking for a knitted snail after inspecting it!

that yarn looks so lovely. i may have to check out that book–i’m trying to do a lot of reorganizing in the new year too. organization really is a neverending job, isn’t it? or does it just feel that way because i’m not that good at it?
Kristin says
I was new to the yarn along a few weeks and I have to say – it was a wonderful experience! It inspired me (a crocheter) to learn to knit even! And it helps me to blog more regularly. I just love what you do here. It’s a wonderful community. Oh, and I’m also in the midst of a “whole house organization project”.

Thanks for mentioning that ADD book; my son has ADD and it may help us.
