Yarn Along

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a single photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~

Well, I had really hoped that I would be sharing Keats’ newly cast on birthday sweater today, but with sick girls I’ve had little time for knitting, nor have I honestly even felt like it.  There has been progress made on Larkspur’s sweater, but not as much as I had hoped by now.  At the very least, by posting the same project week after week, hopefully some of you won’t be afraid to do the same!
As far as reading goes, I have been doing a good bit here and there.  Starting January first I began a simple morning routine of reading the daily entry in Small Steps for Catholic Moms.  I am terrible at keeping up with this sort of thing, but I believe that the simplicity of this book will make it possible for me to read it each morning, and give me something to think about as I go about my day.  The beauty of it is that if you miss a day, it’s really not a big deal.  The book is written in a very flexible fashion to be used in the way that best serves the reader.  There’s no giving up because you’ve gotten behind and that sort of thing.  I think I can handle this!
Two other books that I am reading that are really inspiring my homeschool plans for the following months, are The Read-Aloud Handbook, and Drawing with Children.  I bought the read aloud handbook hoping to get more book ideas for my older boys, but discovered that there is so much more in this book than that.  I read one chapter today, and have already come up with a new plan for homeschooling Gabriel over the next few months (and the chapter wasn’t even geared toward that-it just gave me a lot to think about that I related to him.)  I am so excited about Drawing with Children that I have been up at night with Beatrix at my back, reading with a flashlight in bed.  I am incredibly excited about putting these lessons into practice for not only my children, but also myself.  I will save my other thoughts about this book for later though!
Below is a linky list if you’d like to add a link to your own Yarn Along photo.
(1) Make sure the link you submit is to the URL of your blog post or your specific Flickr photo and not your main blog URL or Flickr Photostream. Please be sure and link to your current Yarn Along post, and not a Yarn Along post from a previous week.
(2) Include a link back here in your blog post or flickr photo page.
(3) Thanks for playing along!
(4) Oh, and if you have any trouble linking up, just email me and I will help you!
