Her name is Trudy (it’s a family name.)
My mom goes easier on me when I use family names for pets she doesn’t think we should be adopting (well there was the time we adopted a kitten and named it Naven for Steve Martin’s character, Naven R. Johnson, in The Jerk. The Jerk is my mom’s favorite movie.)
I think she used the phrase, “so much on your plate.” We like a full plate. Full plates are so much more fun than empty ones.
We felt like with Jonny’s surgery on Monday, that Tuesday would be the perfect day to adopt a puppy. Don’t you agree?
The honest truth is that my younger sister drove about six hundred miles to bring us this puppy (long story) and rescheduling would have been really difficult.
Keats has been begging for a puppy for about two years. Now he has one. Of course he has to share.
Trudy is super talented.
And super cute.
My boys are in puppy heaven.
She hasn’t warmed up to me yet, but loves the kids.
I mean, really loves them.
We haven’t had a puppy in many many years, so this is so much fun.
Did I mention that she’s really adorable?
She’s also the perfect mix of breeds: about 1/2 labrador, 1/4 pit bull terrier, and 1/4 who knows what. Seriously, the best. And if you are worried (like my mom), you can read this, and it might make you feel better.
So, just be prepared for lots of Trudy pictures. I will try to control myself, but there may be a theme in my next few posts.
