Today I made Larkspur’s pencil roll. I did not have a plan, just knew that I wanted to somehow contain these inexpensive little pencils and their sharpener in a way that would make them portable. I made it up as I went, and am happy with how it turned out.
I used wool blend felt, but were I to make another of these in the future, I would probably use cotton of some sort for durability. The felt is definitely quicker though. I sewed ribbon across the outside to use as a fastener.
Then I added velcro to secure the roll closed.
It really does hold the pencils securely.
And it fits nicely with a little pad of drawing paper in Larkspur’s purse. Both the pad and the pencil roll will be in her stocking on Christmas morning.
She is also getting this huge doodling book, which I think she will thoroughly enjoy (it looks so fun I want to draw in it as well). It is really cute and will go well with her colored pencils. Larkspur who loves all things paper and pencil should be pleased.
Oh, and by the way, there are lots of both crayon rolls, and pencil rolls on Etsy.
