Keats won!

Keats ran in a half mile race at school this morning. I was surprised that he wanted to do it because he used to be so shy, and Seth would never do something like this. We took Keats up to the track last night to practice, and this morning he won the race by a long shot. He really did great and we were so proud of him just for running to begin with. His coach came over after the race to tell me that Keats is a great runner and also does a great job in P.E. I think he was surprised when I told him that Keats is Seth’s brother. Seth attended the same school as Keats for kindergarten and always hated P.E. In fact, I got a call from the school the first week of Seth’s kindergarten year because he ran away and tried to climb a fence to escape after the coach tried to make him hula hoop. When I met with the coach I suggested that he not try to make Seth hula hoop again (for crying out loud!), and there weren’t any further P.E. incidences.

What a cute story. Hula hoop, indeed. What was that coach/teacher thinking for crying out loud??? Tell Keats he looked pretty spiffy running along the track. I think it's great that he did that.

Congrats to Keats! I don't think any of my boys would have wanted to hula hoop either. Next year they'll be in Catholic school with a more traditional PE; it will be interesting to see how they do. BTW, I saw Seth's name in the First Communion program! 🙂

Way to go, Keats! Good for him. I despised PE, too. The absolute worst was when they made us get up on this high platform and do the Olympic rings (it must have been an Olympic year). I was terrified!

Good job, Keats! :)Seriously, it is amazing how different each of our children are… our first child's personality and behaviors can't predict any others, that is for sure!
